YWAM Denver (Fall '08)

It has been a while since I have been in contact with you all, so I figured that it would be a good time to send a brief update. Honestly, things are going amazing out here with YWAM Denver!

I was able to come out and staff the Boarders DTS(discipleship training school) in January. Around 45 students were out here and got there lives rocked by God. I was able to lead a small group (discipleship group) during the school and teams went out to Bosnia, Guatemala, and Israel off of that school. I stayed back and worked with other students in another school while they were on outreach which was amazing as well. A company called Circle of Belief is in post-production of a documentary that was filmed of the school I was staffing and it looks like it is going to be super powerful. It should be completed before Christmas this year. Wait until you here some of the testimonies on it! One of my buddies Jonathan turned his life towards God and came out here, leaving a life of drugs and emptiness behind. His brother was one of the four friends of mine that were shot during the incident last December. I hear he is a youth pastor back home now! All kind of good stuff like this is going on!

I am now working directly with other students and am one of the main leaders of another school and have had the opportunity to teach and pour out my time and life to the students. I am also leading local outreaches on Monday nights to a homeless coffee shop in the downtown Denver community and other places. I have been playing drums and assisting with worship all throughout the year both for YWAM and occasionally for different churches throughout the community and had the opportunity to preach at a youth event on Halloween night!

We currently have teams that are in China, Bosnia, Jordan, and in Afghanistan who maintain long term relationships and remain there for years at a time. We sent a video team to Thailand and beyond documenting testimonies and information on child sex slave trafficking to raise awareness and bring about change. So many just causes are going on out here and I really feel like God is giving me a heart to put my faith into action and to be the voice, as Christians, that stands against social injustices and stands for righteousness in all areas of life.

James 1:27 – Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress

My goal is and has been to lead my own teams overseas. I am so excited to say that I have been asked to take a team overseas off of the winter boarders school and it looks like I will be heading off to Panama! More to come on that in the next blog! I am planning on being out here for a bit and miss everyone back home so much!
